Constitution Day: Food & Discussion

Food! Ice Cream! Prizes!

Join the Democracy and Constitution Discussion at 1:00pm on the 2nd floor of the Student Center.

The discussion topic is provided below:

How democratic is the US constitution? How does it compare to other democratic  constitutions around the world? What factors shaped its features at the founding, and how has it shaped our politics since? How has the constitution been a vehicle for furthering racial, gender and other forms of inclusion, and to what extent has it been an obstacle to these attempts? Join us on Constitution Day for a discussion of these and related questions, co-sponsored by the History, Politics and Political Economy (HIPPE) department and led by Dr. Ian Zuckerman, HIPPE faculty member in Politics.

September 17th is designated as Constitution Day to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia on September 17, 1787.

Per the U.S. Department of Education regulations, all educational institutions receiving federal funding must provide educational activities and/pr programs pertaining to the U.S. Constitution on September 17th each year.

For more information, including links to quizzes and the constitution in its entirety, please visit regis.edu/constitutionday.
